We arrived by Train on Christmas Day only to find out the city is deserted. No restaurants were open and we ended up eating hots dogs as our Xmas dinner. Definitely a Xmas to be remembered!
We'd like to share our journey with friends and love ones.
This program is truly excellent. The professors were first rate and the classmates were all very inspiring and fun to be with. We were well taken care of in everyway. I'm working hard to stay connected with my classmates. Sadly I find myself not making any new friends as I get older so I truly treasure the friendship I made at Stanford.
In addition to academic work, we also had fitness trainers who came daily at 6am to workout with us. I worked up enough stamina through the program to join the running group toward the end and on the last Sunday, ran the 6km to the Dish with two friends. I got myself into great physical shape this summer... Hard to keep up though...
These classmates came out of their shells during the Europe party. There was a European Idol competition and groups dressed up as ABBA, the Beatles and Oltmann came out in drags with wigs and heavy makeup. It was so out of character for these CEOs and executives of companies, however, it was just what's needed at the time!
At the Mexican Party with Professor and Mrs. Walter Bortz, Sus and Jim. Prof Bortz is 76 years old and still full of live and fun. He continues to ran a marathon a year. I hope to be as fun and as fit as he and Mrs. Bortz when I'm that age! Jim bid and won the Olympics package I offered at part of the Charity Auction so I will be hosting his family in August of 2008. Sus is one of my favorite ladies - always cheerful and fun.
The Evening started with a Wine Ceremony where Professor Burgelman and members of the Japan team broke the cover of the wine especially made for our class. People then line up with their wine glasses to fill up and toast with one another. We then had Thai dancers, Bollywood disco followed by an evening of Karaoke. Chef Raul outdid himself and outsourced to bring delicacies from all corners of Asia starting with a roast suckling pig, sushi, Chinese food, Indian curry. Dennis even sent special spices from his golf club in Singapore and we had Singaporean and Malaysian soup made. It was a great evening and celebration of our time spent in Stanford.
