January 1 begins a new journey for us as we settle down in San Jose. The kids are fully immersed in their school work and we are in the thick basketball season. While still on sabbatical I am still learning to take care of household issues and become more efficient in the kitchen. David joined us as a member of our family on January 1, 2010. He and Derek helped me cleared out my office/guest room. Emily and I went to the container store to get more organizers, laundry baskets, hooks..etc to make his room better. So now I have three kids and there's never a dull moment in the house. David is 6'6" and is a star basketball player whose on Derek's team. The two boys bonded like brothers right away and it warms my heart to hear the hearty laughter coming from one of their rooms late at night.
It's also fun to feed these teenagers - with three in the house and on most days Derek brings home a few more after school and before practice, I start preparing food at 2pm for an afternoon feeding. I always have ingredients for fried rice, pasta and have frozen burgers and salmon on hand. I'm fast enough now I can get food ready in 5 minutes ofr 4-5 boys and while they are eating I go to Valley Christian to pick up Emily. Life is around food preparation, picking up and dropping off. Derek and David practices or plays basketball 7 days a week! There are games almost every other day. Here they are at Piedmont Hill after Santa Teresa beat Piedmont Hill. Emily is delighted to have two brothers!
