Shanghai 2008

Here we are inside the museum at the base of the TVB Pearl Tower. Behind us is one of the gifts given as a wedding gift. It's a beautiful thing (I wouldn't know where to put it in my house), however, it looks very impressive in a museum!

Shanghai

We went up the TVB Pearl Tower and here you can see a panoramic view of Shanghai. You can see our hotel, the Shanghai Grand Hyatt in the back. Claire and Emily were looking through one of these binoculars - it was hazy so couldn't see far.

Our next stop was Shanghai. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt. We first met Derek and Bill for dinner, then Bill took the kids to the Science Museum while Sue and I worked. We went to see an acrobatic show at night and met up with Bill and Derek for dinner.

We practically had the beach to ourselves. It was very nice and relaxing!

Sanya Resort, Hainan Island, China

We went to one of our favorite beach resorts - Sanya for some R&R. The water was great and the food was amazing. The breakfast buffet at the Ritz was a huge spread. Emily and I really like the Wagyu beef burgers and french fries. We had it everyday by the pool!

We also had great mangoes everyday! Here's a photo of Claire and Emily going boogie boarding. We went all over town looking for Claire's swimsuit and finally found a great orange one!

Beijing trip 2008

We went to see the "Night of Beijing" which was a fantastic dinner theatre of spectacular performances of the Chinese culture. It's a show of the Chinese history from ancient times to now. The dinner was so so but the show and the costumes were great!

Beijing Trip 2008

After we came out of the Summer Palace with Claire and Sue, Emily had to have this coolie hat. She bargained hard for it. I think we paid 40rmb which was $5. Then she left it on the van! Well, we got this good photo opp. She won't ask for a coolie hat anymore!

Epsilon Idol finalists

Everyone was a winner at the end of the night. We had "Best singer", "Best Attitude", "Best fashion" and "Best Overall". Hmmm 4 contestants, 4 winners, who would've thought of that! :) We all had a great time and handed out lucky money at the end!
